Yes, you read it right – 5oo million members. Facebook is expected to announce this week that they’ve hit the 500 million users milestone which was projected earlier in the year for 2010.
The company has launched “Facebook Stories,” a “visual memorial” to the ways that the site has changed people’s lives for the better. You can now submit your story here at Facebook Stories. Each story will be limited to the same number of characters a Facebook status caps out at: 420.
If your story becomes popular — that is, if it gets more “Likes” than most, Facebook may contact you using the contact information provided on the form or from your Facebook profile to discuss your story. Also remember that Facebook may highlight your story on their Blog, share it with others or the press, or otherwise use your story.
Facebook reached 400 million users five months ago. This time last year, it had just reached 200 million, and eight months before that it was at just 100 million. The site launched in February of 2004, and has since become the most popular social site on the web.
TV Interview Announcement
