Twitter rolled out a “new Twitter.com” at a press conference yesterday which will enable users to easily see embedded photos and videos directly on Twitter from services such as Dailybooth, Flickr, Twitgoo, TwitPic, Twitvid, USTREAM, Vimeo, Yfrog, YouTube, etc., as well as more easily find related content.

Inline media in tweets has been available on third-party Twitter clients prior to the introduction of Twitter’s new site, but multimedia in tweets could only be seen by clicking on a link to view the image or clip on an external site.

Twitter, the micro-blogging platform, just announced on their blog the launching of the Tweet Button to make sharing tweets easy and simple.

According to the post, the button  ”lets you share links directly from the page you’re on. When you click on the Tweet Button, a Tweet box will appear – pre-populated with a shortened link that points to the item that you’re sharing.”

There have now been more than 20 billion tweets since Twitter’s inception.  The 20 billionth Tweet, from a Japanese user with the name  ”GGGGGGo_Lets_Go,” a graphic designer in Tokyo who works at an advertising agency, was sent at 3:44pm GMT. The message was part of a conversation that appeared to be a comment about a third party that had come online and onto Twitter.

BlackBerry maker RIM began rolling out its official “Twitter for BlackBerry” mobile application to users via the BlackBerry App World site. The app which works on all devices from all carriers, in all countries except China, has been in beta since April.

It supports all the features that is to be expected from a mobile Twitter application, including access to timelines, replies, messages, trends and profiles. In addition to these, it also includes several BlackBerry-specific options, such as push notifications, hotkeys and integration with core BlackBerry apps.
