Some simple rules that could save you a lot of cash in internet marketing. If you are marketing anything on the internet - you should read this

1) Know Your Budget

The first thing that every internet marketer should do is be conscious of what their budget allows and doesn’t allow. With all of us feeling the crunch money wise none of us wants to lose any more on marketing than we have to. If you are starting a new campaign(s) make sure you set the limit to something you feel comfortable with that won’t break your personal bank

2) Make your PPC Ads Specific

Getting traffic to a site is as easy as buying AdWords. The problem is that if the leads aren’t really qualified – they are virtually useless and can be quite expensive. When you are creating your ad – try to be as descriptive as you can as far as what the user can expect when they follow the link. If the ad is very general and its not easy to figure out exactly what you will get by clicking on it – some people will click out of curiosity. This costs money = bad. What you want is to have people attracted to your ad and the leads or clicks to be good leads of people you know who have some real interest in the product or service you are offering

3) Use Free Ways to Promote

Article submission is free. Offering advice in forums is free(keep a sig file with your link in it) Google groups is another way to promote. Chat rooms can help prequalify people based on the chatroom name or topic. Digg articles – write your own about your product or service. YouTube videos – easy to make – easy to submit.

4) Do The Math

We’re not all number crunchers but all of us can do the math of deciding when it may or may not be equitable to market on certain keywords. If you have a product that will return $20 in revenue to you if someone buys it, then take that 20 dollars and divide it by 100 giving you 20 cents. This is the number you need to stay under or at while you are testing out a new market. If you are paying 30 cents and have 100 clicks this will cost you $30 dollars. If you are paying $30 to make $20 … well you will have problems Lots of people will tout their product as having extremely great conversion rates – to date I have found none that share the same conversions that are advertised.

First of all let me start by saying that this is only my plan, you can make your own. What I meant was without any plan you’re doomed to fail, but the true path to internet marketing success is finding your own plan that works.

I am going to give you my plan and I hope it will help you out, I know I used a paid for plan when I first started internet marketing because I was so lost.

It wasn’t just that I was lost though, I was overwhelmed by the whole thing. There is too much information to learn and I didn’t know where to start or how to take action. I bought One Week Marketing from PotPieGirl and followed that to the letter for my first month internet marketing. Then I branched off in my own direction as I’m sure you will.

I thought it would be nice to put a free plan of action out there, so here goes:

Get signed up to ClickBank then pick five products to promote. You won’t be promoting all five but do pick five. Make sure they are in different categories, I’d suggest big differences like tennis verses Athlete’s Foot.

Go online and find forums for each of these topics, if you can’t find one scratch it for now. Go into each forum and right down the five topics that have the most attention, go through them and take some notes as to the tone people are talking about something.

Get the general feel for each crowd and write it down, then pick the one you feel you can relate to the most (or just randomly). Go to either Google’s keyword tool or SEO-Books keyword tool, and type in your subject. Find keywords that have at least 50 local searches a day, a little math should figure this out for you.

Write down at least 10 keywords, don’t spend all day doing this. Yet every time you pick a keyword go into Google and type in that keyword with quotes. Travis recommends less than 5,000 results returned or you dump the keyword, and I think this is a good rule of thumb for beginners.

Once you have 5 keywords that fit the criteria, I want you to go to Squidoo.com and make 5 lenses, one on each keyword. Write some quality content, take your time. A little research here goes a long way, this is the providing value stage.

Then add links from Squidoo to your sales page (affiliate link) and ask people to give the product a shot. A review of what you think of the product (if you’ve tried it) also works wonders. Once you have these five Squidoo lenses I suggest writing some articles on each keyword as well and submitting them to an article directory for more power to your lenses.

From here on out it is up to you to decide what to do, you could simply start over after this and you’ll still be successful if you keep working at it.

If you’re serious about learning internet marketing – sign up for my personal free course at EarnALivingOnline.org

I built this website and this course because I would love to see more successful marketers in the field and so many quit due to not having simple information.

The gurus love to confuse you so let me help make it simple, for free as it should be, all I ask is your e-mail. I’m convinced, Sign me up!

One thing that all successful internet marketers know is how to identify each keyword most relevant to driving targeted traffic to their blog or website. Keyword research is critical to determining which niches are profitable and which words are most important for search engine optimization and marketing purposes

One thing that all successful internet marketers know is how to identify each keyword most relevant to driving targeted traffic to their blog or website. Keyword research is critical to determining which niches are profitable and which words are most important for search engine optimization and marketing purposes.

Learning to identify a profitable niche requires gathering information about the targeted traffic in comparison to the strength of the competition surrounding that niche. There are several free and paid tools available online to help your research. One of the most popular among online marketing gurus is the Google AdWords External Keyword tool. Just type in a word or phrase and it will provide a list of related words and phrases along with the number of monthly searches for each.

By typing the same keyword or phrase into the standard Google Search bar you will get the number of competing pages and the profitability of the niche. The ads going down the right side of the screen are referred to as paid ads or pay per Click Ads. Each time someone clicks on one of the ads the publisher is charged a fee whether or not a sale is made. Online marketers are willing to pay anywhere from 5 cents and up per click. The ads are specific to keywords or phrases and can costs 5, 10, or even 20 dollars per click if the niche is profitable enough.

If there are no pay per Click ads on the screen you need to find better keywords or another niche. No paid ads means the niche is likely not very profitable and should be avoided if you want to make money online.

Finding several keywords relative to your desired niche and placing them in the right places on your blog or site helps the search engine spiders find you and helps drive highly targeted traffic to your site which is more likely to convert to sales of your product.

Picking the right keywords for your internet marketing niche is one of the most essential aspects of online marketing. This is because keywords, literally, drives the internet and as such your inability to find relevant keywords for your website can result in a hole within your marketing strategy

Picking the right keywords for your internet marketing niche is one of the most essential aspects of online marketing. This is because keywords, literally, drives the internet and as such your inability to find relevant keywords for your website can result in a hole within your marketing strategy.

Now, this hole can become the reason why you fail thus it is important to prevent it from happening. When picking keywords, you have to first look into your chosen niche. It is important that you choose an internet marketing niche that is not saturated.

This is because no matter how relevant or carefully chosen your keywords are, within a saturated niche, you’re still likely to fail. Once you have chosen an ideal niche, you should select keywords that are relevant to your website. Choose them carefully because they would be used on all your content, your tags and so on. Basically, the success of your website’s SEO or search engine optimization largely depends upon your chosen keywords.

What makes a good keyword? Well, for one, it should be different from the rest. It is inevitable that you would encounter a website that sells products that are similar to yours. To get ahead of them, you need to be creative when it comes to choosing your keywords. If you use the exact same keywords as they do then you won’t stand out from the rest. So always think outside the box and look beyond the obvious. Take the time to research your internet marketing niche as you go about choosing your keywords.

Don’t rush things because this might result in faulty or poorly chosen keywords. Let the creativity flow and pretty soon, you’ll have a good list in your hands which you can then pick apart to make sure that you get the best of the lot.

Confused about effective Niche Selection? Well, don’t be. I can help you with that. I have helped hundreds of people to become effective at niche selection. There is so much money to be made if people just spent a little bit of time and effort on this one aspect of internet marketing. Find a solid niche market and succeed at internet marketing, it’s as simple as that.

Keywords are the common thread in Internet Advertising/Marketing. The person sitting in front of a computer thinks about keywords that they will use to search for information or products. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the supplier describes the information or product in terms of Ad words, another form of keywords. So the Internet marketeer must also think in terms of keywords, if they hope to participate in the transaction. To often we Internet Marketeers think only of the product and what we might earn from promoting such a product, without regard to the source of the transaction. I’m always surprised when doing keyword research, at the volume and the amount paid to advertise a given keyword. Keywords that I would have guessed were searched for a million times a month turn out to be searched for very little. Also, I find what I consider high demand keywords that indeed have high volume, but the amount paid per click for this traffic is small.

When I do keyword research, I often start it because I saw a sign board or a TV advertisement that had a catchy keyword or keyword phrase that I liked. If I’m just looking for new ideas, I will go to Amazon or E-Bay and just look at the items for sale. A keyword can be anything you can imagine. Then with a few single word keywords in mind, I use the free Google AdWords Keyword Tool to check volumes and what advertisers are paying for the keyword and related keyword phrases. I start by entering the first keyword and then I configure the tool for my research. The changes I make to the configuration are as Follows: I change the Match Type drop-down to Exact; Under Show/Hide Columns, I click hide advertiser competition and hide local search volume. Under Show/Hide Columns, I click show average CPC. The CPC is the amount the advertiser pays Google per click for this keyword.

So now I enter single keywords that I found in the step where I was looking for ideas. I enter single keywords because the keyword tool will give you all kinds of related phrases that you might not have thought about. If you enter a 2 – 3 word phrase you could miss out on a really good phrase. So the tool gives me a list of keywords and related phrases, about 150 of them, and the cost per click of each. If I like the volumes and click value I can save them in a spreadsheet by simply scrolling down to the end of the column and clicking the csv for excel link. I generally repeat this process until I have at least one thousand keywords and phrases in my spreadsheet.

The last step in keyword gathering is to calculate the potential monthly income from each keyword. I add a column to the spreadsheet called Monthly Potential. I know that I can expect to get about 25% of the amount that the advertiser pays Google per click. Sometimes it’s a bit more or less, but that’s a pretty good number. My objective is to find a keyword or phrase with which I can achieve number one ranking on Googles search result page. For the rest of my calculation I assume I can rank number one for each keyword. If I rank number one, I can expect to get about 40% of the monthly click volume. I also can expect to convert about 5% of that traffic into a click from my site. So I create an Excel formula that looks like this =((B2*0.25)*(C2*0.4*0.05)). I copy this formula into all the cells in the monthly potential column in the spreadsheet. This tells me what the monthly income potential is for each keyword. Now you have an economic basis for keyword selection. I hope this will help you with your selection of proper keywords.

This post describes the definition and use of keywords for anyone who sells products or services on the internet. Keys to the why and how to use them and tips on how to select them

If you are selling anything online you will have to consider the importance of keywords, a very basic tool. In all forms of online marketing content – articles, blogs, videos and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising – the use of keywords is extremely important. You should know also that keywords may or may not be a single word but in fact may be a brief phase. These words or phrases are used by internet users to search for their desired product. Using the correct keyword is therefore essential for the You, internet marketer to get the internet users to find your product. For example if you are selling soda a common keyword a user might use word “beverage” or “carbonated beverage.”

In addition to being used by internet users, Keywords are used by the search engines to rank internet content. The correct placement of keywords in you marketing content along with overall content is fundamental to getting a good or bad ranking of your article, blog, or video on the search engine. The keywords should appear in your title, and should be mentioned a few timed in the body of your marketing content for the best ranking. But be careful not to repeat too many times because that will decrease your ranking.

Because of the brevity of the PPC ad, keywords may not appear in the ad it self but the importance of keywords should not be taken lightly. Keywords are kept in a separate file that identifies with the PPC ad and are a significant determination to what search engine page your ad appears. For this type of advertising keywords are selected that relate to the product for which the ad is about.

When creating your marketing content a consideration for choosing a keyword is the commonality of that word. Although keywords that are very broad may be used more frequently by internet users they will also be more frequently used by your competitors making it more difficult to get a good ranking. To get the best results you may want to choose keywords that are more specific to your product. Finding these keywords may require a bit more work to discover but there are tools available to help you.

So throughout your internet marketing events do not under estimate the importance of keywords. To master the use of this basic tool is mandatory for success.

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then a video speaks a million or even billion words. Video is fast becoming an indispensible part of the World Wide Web. This can be seen all over the Internet with video hosting websites such as Youtube, Vimeo, Veoh, Metacafe, Dailymotion, blip.tv, etc. This has made it easy and affordable to host marketing videos online even for the small business owners.

Video communication is an excellent way for companies or individuals to showcase their products or/and services to their prospective customers. This is more economically viable as it is a fraction of the cost of conventional TV ads. Getting this right will potentially drive in traffic to the websites and ultimately result in extra income generation.

Online video marketing can be packaged in form of how to use a product, tutorials, clip of a seminar, service demos, product/service support, traditional commercials, etc. These videos are easy to embed in html codes using widgets. This has made it easy for these videos to be used in email messages, presentations, social networks, and on websites.

The good thing about video marketing is that you don’t need any technical know-how to get started. All that is required is a video recorder and video editing application to make good and quality videos and then sign-up for a free subscription with one of the video hosting companies. Some of these video hosting companies also offer online video making functionality via webcams, camcorder or any video recording gadget attached to a computer.

The steps required to get started in video marketing are:

Create

There is no gainsaying the fact that without a video, you can’t do video marketing. First things first, you will need to create a stunning, educative, informative, funny and unique video that will keep your viewers spreading the news and coming back for more.

As stated earlier, all that is required is a good quality video recorder and video editing software. The basic idea behind creating great videos is to define a niche topic and make creative and must-watch videos with a focus on that niche.

Upload

It easy for you to upload any kind of video you create using tons of different video file formats and some service providers even offer a Desktop Uploader. Basic (free) accounts put a limit on storage and upload capacity while pro accounts give unlimited access. There are provisions for tools to customize uploaded videos to fit seamlessly into any website or blog. Support for High Definition and 3D videos are now being provided by some service providers.

Share

With a click of a button, you can share your videos with anyone you want however you want. There are security and privacy controls so you can choose exactly who views your videos, and you can even post videos on social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr, or Digg.

Connect

Video sharing networks are worldwide communities of respectful people. There are millions of people and companies online sharing one form of video or the other. One of the best ways to experience the power of video marketing is by making contacts and subscribing to users’ videos that are of interest to you. Feel free to ask other members questions and start conversations with the people you meet here by commenting on their videos.

Explore

You can explore video categories and an ever-changing catalog of great content and active communities by joining groups. You can even create your own group and invite others to join. Interacting with other users using videos will drive traffic to your website and can lead to a source of income to you.

On a final note…

What are you still waiting for? Don’t let the geek speak about video formats and encoding discourage you. Join one of these video sharing sites and start exploring the arena of online video marketing. Let the power of online video marketing help you reach a wider audience and increase awareness of your brand or product.

Google AdWords is Google’s advertising program that lets you create simple, effective, relevant ads and display them to people already searching online for information related

Google AdWords is Google’s advertising program that lets you create simple, effective, relevant ads and display them to people already searching online for information related to your business by using keyword-based advertising.

When a searcher visits Google and enters a query — say, ‘oracle tutorial’ — Google will display a variety of relevant search results, such as links to articles containing online tutorials on Oracle, or websites dedicated to Oracle training. It will also display AdWords ads called sponsored links that link to businesses offering Oracle courses, consultancy services or other products and services related to the query.

Google AdWords offers a variety of ad formats ranging from text ads, image (and animated) ads, video ads, local business ads and mobile ads.

Text ads , which are generally the most popular, are made up of the following 4 lines:

Headline (25 characters, including spaces): The title attracts users who might be interested in your products or services.

Description (two lines of up to 35 characters each, including spaces): These two lines contain your product, service and other details (such as promotions). The content in these lines should be clear enough to communicate your intent and compelling enough to convince the user to click your ad and visit your site.

Display URL (35 characters, including spaces): This line indicates which website the user will visit if he or she clicks your ad.

Destination URL (up to 1024 characters): This is the actual page on which users land when they click your ad. The URL will not appear in your ad. Many advertisers link their ads to particular destination pages within their website, but use the simpler URL of their home page as the display URL.

Using Google AdWords for the first time may introduce you to some new terminology. Here are a few of the most commonly used AdWords terms.

Cost-per-click (CPC): Here AdWords charges you for each click your ads receive. In other words, no click no charge.

Quality Score: This is the basis for measuring the quality of your keyword and ad relevance and determining your cost-per-clicks (CPCs). The higher your Quality Score, the lower the price you’ll pay per click.

First page bid estimates: This is based on the Quality Score and current advertiser competition for a keyword, and estimates the cost-per-click (CPC) bid needed for an ad to reach the first page of Google search results when the search query exactly matches the keyword.

Click-through Rate (CTR): This is a metric that helps show how your ads are performing. The more relevant your ads are, the more often users will click on them, resulting in a higher CTR. The system calculates your CTR as follows: Number of ad clicks/number of impressions x 100.

Return on Investment (ROI): If you invested £500 and got back £1500, then your ROI is 200%.

Conversion Rate (CR): This is the percentage of visitors who become customers. For example, if 100 people clicked on the ad and four became customers, then your conversion rate is 5%. Average Internet conversion rates are 2%- 3% and 7% is considered quite a high number.

Cost per 1000 impression of an ad (CPM): This measurement is mostly used for banner ads.

What can PPC do for you?

AdWords advertising lets you:

Target your ads specifically to people who are looking for your products or services.

Avoid showing your ads to users who aren’t likely to purchase from you.

Obtain the maximum return on your advertising investment.

AdWords can offer you instant access to a vast audience of potential customers.

AdWords is cost-effective for businesses of all sizes.

You can choose to pay for ad clicks (CPC) or for impressions (CPM).

Because you can choose your own CPC or CPM amounts, you decide how much you’ll pay each time someone clicks or views your ad.

There’s no minimum spending limit. In addition, you can set a maximum daily spend (daily budget) that the AdWords system won’t exceed.

You can edit your budget settings at any time.

Google AdWords ads engage potential customers at precisely the right moment – when users are actively searching for information (keywords or content) related to your business. Your AdWords ads ensure that your website is only a single click away.

You can edit an existing ad, then see your updates within 15 minutes.

You can edit your account at any time, as often as you like. AdWords is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ads start running for the first time almost immediately after you activate your account with your credit card or direct debit information. (Advertisers in certain countries can pay by bank transfer. In this case, ads run when we receive the first payment).

How are ads ranked?

Ads are positioned on search and content pages based on their Ad Rank. The ad with the highest Ad Rank appears in the first position, and so on down the page.

The criteria that determine Ad Rank differ for ads on search results pages (which are always targeted by keywords only) and ads targeted by keywords on content sites. There’s also a third set of criteria that determine if an ad targeted only by a placement will appear on that placement.

A keyword-targeted ad is ranked on a search result page based on the matched keyword’s cost-per-click (CPC) bid and Quality Score, which is calculated from its click-through rate (CTR) on Google, the relevance of your ad and keyword to the search query and other relevance factors.

A keyword-targeted ad is ranked on a content page based on its content bid and Quality Score, which is calculated by the ad’s past performance on that and similar sites, your landing page quality and other relevance factors. This is true even if you have also targeted placements in the ad group, and even if you have chosen ‘Relevant pages only on the placements I target’ as your content network setting. If a keyword helps target your ad on the content network, then the keyword-targeted Quality Score formula is used.

If an ad is targeted by placement only, without keywords, it will appear if its Ad Rank is higher than that of all the competing ads. It will appear as the only ad on that page. For an ad targeted by placement only with cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM) bidding, the Ad Rank is determined by its CPM bid and its Quality Score, which is derived from your landing page quality. For an ad targeted by placement only with CPC bidding, the click-through rate is also considered when creating the Quality Score.

Having high CPC and CPM bids, relevant ad text, a strong CTR and a quality landing page will result in a higher position for all your ads. Since this ranking system uses relevance to help determine your ad’s position, your ad cannot be locked out of the top position based solely on price.

A Checklist for PPC success

To create your Google AdWords account, visit the AdWords homepage and follow the sign-up wizard which will walk you through the process. Google AdWords offers two types of accounts – Starter Edition and Standard Edition.

Starter Edition is a highly simplified version of AdWords that lets new users advertise a single product or service, using a one-page sign-up form. A Starter Edition account has no ad groups, rich ad formats, placement targeting or other advanced features.

Standard Edition is the more typical account, which includes multiple ad campaigns and ad formats, plus advanced features like ad scheduling, Google Analytics and more. Most new users choose to create a Standard Edition account. Those who choose the Starter Edition account can later upgrade to a Standard Edition account at any time, for no additional fee.

Once your account has been activated, organization is the key to managing your PPC. Here are my top tips for setting up your AdWords campaign, use them as checklist for your own PPC success:

Set your budget’s daily limit. This is the most you can spend in any one day. Start with a small amount and then you can bid with confidence until you’ve learned how to make a profit.

Carefully choose the keywords you bid on. Your keywords are the heart of your campaign.

Divide your keywords into different Ad Groups so that they can each have different bids, ad copy and landing pages.

Write different adverts and test them against each other. And never stop testing – always trying to better the best performing ads.

What have you got that your competitors have not? What’s your Unique Selling Point (USP)? Use your USP in your ad copy to make your ad more appealing and increase your clicks. The higher your click rate, the higher up Google’s pages your ad will appear.

Learn about Google’s different match bids and use exact match and broad match. With exact match you bid on specific keywords only. With broad match you bid on all keywords containing the word you are bidding on.

Introduce negative keywords into your campaign. Your ad will not show for any searches containing the negative keywords you bid on.

Make sure your ad copy and landing pages all use the keywords they serve. Do this and your ads can move higher up Google’s results pages without the need to increase bids – that means less cost and more profit.

Geo-target your ads. Make sure your ads only appear for searchers in regions that you can sell to.

Limit your ads to display only during times of the day relevant to your company and products.

Measure your results using Google Analytics and learn what works and what doesn’t, always chasing a higher return for your investment.

Have you just successfully launched your client’s new website and you now want to take it further by starting the email
marketing project? Actually, embarking on an email campaing project is more than just designing beautiful and aesthetic email newsletters. There are some basic things that should be taken into consideration before sending out that first email newsletter.

In these days of Internet spammers and spambots, people are very careful when it comes to email messages they receive. Any anonymous email is instantly deleted without being opened, or in many cases anti-spam filters are used to block any email considered as spam. Because of this, the first email campaign often gets a low response rate due to the product or service on offer, the website design and more importantly the content of your email newsletters.

Below are some tips for you to consider before embarking on your first email marketing campaign.

Don’t us a non-working or personal email account.
Setup specific email accounts to use such as newsletter@your-domain.com, promotions@your-domain.com, special-offers@your-domain.com, etc. Never use personal email addresses to send email newsletters.

Know the main purpose of the email campaign.
You don’t just start an email marketing campaign for the simple reasons that others are doing same. You need to know what you want to achieve with the campaign and plan accordingly in your newsletters. Some reasons for starting a campaign are:

To get more visitors to your website.

To achieve more product/service sales.

To create a deeper relationship with customers.

Keep your messages short, precise and free of spelling mistakes.
Create catchy punchline that will grap people’s attention immediately they have a look. It is advisable to split the text into short paragraphs. Use simple words, short phrases and call to action consisting of not more than 3 sentences.
Ensure that your sentences are well constructed and without any spelling mistake. There’s nothing more damaging to a company’s image than sending poorly spelled and badly written marketing emails. Make sure you read and re-read, and if possible allow others to proof-read your messages before sending them out.

Plan for the future growth of your mailing list.
This is a major area where people make mistake with inadequate planning. Proper planning should go into how you will split your lists as it grows in the future. Make sure you cater for all neccessary fields you will require now and in the future when creating your sign-up forms.

Plan the frequency of the newsletters and stick to it.
How often do you want to send your emails out to subscribers? It is very important that you do not promise what you can’t deliver when starting out. On your sign-up forms, you can tell people it’s a quarterly email, or a sporadic newsletter. Don’t worry, it might take awhile before you could get into the hang of things and make the claim that you send an email newsletter with any frequency.

Make your sign-up form visible and point would-be subscribers to it.
What is the point in creating an awesome email newsletter campaign but having nobody to send it to? So if you don’t already have a list of opt-in subscribers, create a sign-up form right now, and start pointing people to it. You can place your sign-up form/link in your email signatures, printed on all company’s invoices, letterheads, brochures, flyers, etc., post the link to your website and blog, by word of mouth – asking customers if they’d like to receive your email newsletter, and collect emails over the phone.

Avoid purchasing mailing lists or harvesting email addresses.
There are some marketers who are so desperate to get the word out that they resolved to purchasing email lists, or harvesting email addresses from websites. This is a very negative approach as none of those recipients specifically requested email marketing from you, so all you’ll get is a lot of spam reports. Email marketing is about ongoing relationships, so take the time to build a good list.

Avoid conflict with your company’s privacy policy.
If you are working for a company that has a privacy policy in place, make sure your email marketing isn’t conflicting with the company’s privacy policy. Typical things to check for include open- and click-tracking, and how they are linked to personally identifiable information.

Optimize the whole campaign experience.
The process of signing up for your email list will give you the opportunity to make a first impression on people. It is very important that you optimize this process to make a good and lasting impression on thos who decide to sign-up.
Follow these simple steps to optimize your sign-up process:

Signup form: Provide clear links to your privacy policy and past newsletters, if available.

Thank you page: Thank them and tell them to how to confirm their subscription.

Confirmation link: When they confirmation email, remind them to add your email address to their address book.

Confirmed: When they confirm, take them to an awesome Thank You page and provide some incentives.

Confirmation email: After they confirm, send a final email with the summary of their information.

Opt-out: Provide a way to unsubscribe and remove themselves from your mailing list.

Test, test and more test.
It is essential to send a test message to yourself and your co-workers. The message can display differently after it is received by an email client. Make sure that everything renders correctly: images are shown, links are working, and text is formatted as it must be.
You can also setup as many different web email accounts as you can: Gmail, Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL, etc. Keep those accounts in their default state and try sending test email to them to see if the email displays as it should, and if they pass through their spam filters.

Ready to send? make sure you are there to respond.
When you are ready for your very first email newsletter to be sent to subscribers, it’s a good idea to actually be the ready to respond immediately to emails and/or phone calls from customers. Never schedule your very first email campaign to go out in the midnight. Also, make sure that all those responsible to dealing with customers enquiries from the email campaign are available to take any questions that may arise.

On a final note
These essential tips are meant to guide you in planning your email marketing projects. Planning your projects ahead will ensure it runs a lot more successfully, and a successful project will lead to happier clients and ultimately gives you an edge over your competitors.
